Your Character
(I wrote this exactly one year ago.  I guess it bears repeating. No cursing on my blog.)

Your character is represented by the language you choose to use

Listen.  If you saw a driver in a rusted out car with bald tires and a muffler that sparked along the road, you would draw certain conclusions.  You would likely think that the person in the car was lazy, stupid, backward, etc.  Why?  Because, right or wrong, we often believe that character of the person might be represented by condition of the car.

Well, at least that is how I am with cars.  But, I am even more critical of people for their use of language.  Your words represent a lot about you.  Your choice of words represent your character more than anything else that you have.  Your vulgarity bespeaks the vulgar nature of your character.  Your inability to enter into debate without falling apart at the seams in a raging cesspool of curses bespeaks your indignity and apparent lack of moral fortitude.  The fecklessness of your mind is borne in the utter slime that you choose to represent your character.

And while we are on this subject, where have all the ladies gone?  I mean, we have always heard that chivalry is dead.  And sure, men need to be reminded to be chivalrous every now and again.  But, lately I have found the lady to be as sparse as gold dust in the sweet section of the septic tank.

Where are the standards?  And does anyone care?

Choose your words with caution.  Trust me.  They tell more about you than the flavor of your lip gloss and your kitten heel shoes.  And they tell me more about you than whatever you drive.

So, be you of poesy or prose or the spoken word.  Take care and remember that words have meaning.
